Athens Coach Allen Creasy talks Hartselle caught up to Coach Allen Creasy of Athens High School, and he took time out of his busy schedule to talk with us about this week's contest with the undefeated Hartselle Tigers.

"Hartselle is a great team," Coach Creasy said from the Athens football complex.

"Coach Bob Godsey does a tremendous job over there. His team is always well coached, and he has a lot of talent to go along with being prepared. He does a fine job of scheming to fit his personnel."

"The Hartselle game is a big rivalry game for us, and it means a lot to both communities."

"We will need to do a better job of executing this week than we did last week. We played like it was a homecoming game, and I hate to see our team play like that. Brooks brought more intensity to the game, and we have to make sure that isn't the case this week.

"We will have to be in position to make plays on defense. It's hard enough to make plays against a team like Hartselle when you're in position, if you aren't where you're supposed to be you're in trouble."

Coach Allen Creasy talks about a couple of his playmakers.

"William Ming is playing very well for us. He doesn't have the stats he had last year, but that can be attributed to the situation he has been in. A lot of teams are game planning around William, so he doesn't get the opportunities he did a year ago."

"Trey Brooks has been excellent for us on offense. He is our big playmaker, and he has been all year. He has a lot of colleges showing interest in him, but he doesn't have an offer at this time," Coach Creasy concluded.

Hartselle is ranked third in the state according to the ASWA and No. 6 in the state according to's Coaches Poll, but the Golden Eagles are accustomed to big games in 5A, Region 8.

The game takes place at Hartselle High School Friday night with kickoff set for 7:00 PM.
