"Josh is a big athlete and very intelligent young man. He has a 4.2 GPA and 26 on his ACT," Coach Ellis stated.
"He has started on our offensive line since he was a sophomore. He grades out over 90-percent each week, and we grade pretty tough. He's just been a quality player for a long time here at Fort Payne, and this year is no exception."
"Most people do not believe me when I say this, but I don't believe Josh has given up more than two or three sacks since he became a starter for us."
"He had a good game against North Jackson earlier in the year, which is a compliment to him and North Jackson. North Jackson has excellent athletes, and they're well coached."
Coach Ellis talked about Terry's strengths.
"He run blocks about as well as he pass blocks," he said. "He is a complete player, a good Christian young man, and he has been a blessing to have for three years."
"He's a man of few words, so when he speaks others listen to what he has to say. He is a leader on the field, but he goes about it quietly. He leads by example more so than he does with words."
Josh Terry chose South Alabama over Yale, Wofford and Amherst College. Coach Ellis discussed what led Terry to choose the Jaguars.
"I certainly don't want to put words in his mouth," Ellis said. "From what Josh has told me he really liked the family atmosphere at South Alabama. He likes all the coaches, and they have a great Engineering school. Education has always been the most important thing with Josh."
Terry will have another opportunity to play well tonight as Fort Payne and Scottsboro clash in the big rivalry game.
"They are 4-4 coming into tonight's game, but they have been in some very close games throughout this season. They are very capable of beating anyone they face, and we expect a hard fought game," Ellis stated.
"We really have a complicated mess here in our region. If we win tonight I believe we will be the winner of our region."
We will have a complete update with Josh Terry this weekend.
