Justin Evans
5-8, 160 pounds

4A Midfield 9-1 (6-0)

Midfield faced their first and only loss of the season, but their junior quarterback still shined in the 41-23 loss to 5A Fairfield. Evans completed 29-of-38 pass attempts for 375 yards and a touchdown.

Midfield is the top seed in Region 5 and they will host the fourth seed from Region 6, Oneonta 8-2 (5-2).

Terrell Stewart
5-10, 180 pounds
Senior Running Back
4A Alexandria 7-3 (4-2)

Stewart rushed 26 times for 265 yards and scored three touchdowns on runs of 4, 11 and 10 yards in their win over 4A Cleburne County 30-21.

Alexandria is the second seed from Region 6. They will host the third seed in Region 5, Haleyville 7-3 (4-2).

Zane Pullen
5-11, 160 pounds

5A Boaz 7-3 (5-2)

Pullen played way above his size last week against a talented 1A Hubbard. The senior had 10 tackles, with six going for a loss and four quarterback sacks (game school record). He caused a fumble and recovered a fumble in the 40-8 victory.

Boaz is the second seed out of Region 7. They will host the third seed Athens 6-5 (5-2) out of Region 8.

Ryan Smith
5-10, 175 pounds

Alex Phifer
5-10, 185 pounds
Senior Wide Receiver
5A Greenville 7-3 (5-2)

Smith rushed for 75 yards and scored three touchdowns on 11 carries. His scoring runs included two one-yard keepers and a 22-yard scamper.

The junior completed 14-of-21 passes for 238 yards and three touchdown passes of 53, 52 and 29 yards, all to Phifer. The Tigers defeated 4A Hillcrest Evergreen 49-20. Smith also caught a 17-yard pass from Phifer.

Phifer had seven total receptions for 195 yards and three scores along with his one pass completion. The senior also rushed for 12 yards on three carries.

The offensive duo was helped by their defensive unit when they produced four interceptions.

The third-seeded Greenville out of Region 3 will face a tough task when they travel to play 5A Briarwood Christian 8-2 (5-1). The Lions struggled with Anniston last week and possibly ripe for an upset.

Brent Calloway
6-2, 195 pounds
Sophomore Running Back
5A Russellville 9-1 (6-1)

Calloway rushed for 195 yards on 29 carries (longest run 35 yards) and a touchdown in the 21-13 win over a strong 3A Colbert County. The senior also caught two passes for another 35 yards.

Russellville is the second seed in Region 8 and will host the third seed from Region 7, Fort Payne 7-3 (5-2) in what projects as a very good game.

Mike Smith
5-9, 185 pounds

5A Tallassee 7-3 (5-2)

Smith rushed for 303 yards on 29 carries in the 37-13 win over playoff-bound 4A Holtville. The junior scored three touchdowns and helped his offense block for a 536-yard barrage.

Tallassee is the third seed in Region 2 and will travel Friday to play a talented second seeded Spanish Fort 9-1 (6-1) on what projects as a rainy night for the first round of the state playoffs.

6-0, 180 pounds
Sophomore Running Back
6A Gadsden City 6-4 (4-3)

Carter helped his defensive unit hold 5A Fort Payne to a 17-10 deficit. The Titan recorded eight tackles for a net loss of 11 yards. The junior also recorded a sack, caused a fumble and broke up three pass plays.

Collins did nothing to hurt his average per carry with two carries for 50 yards and a touchdown in the victory.

Gadsden City is the third seed in Region 7, and they will travel to take on Region 8's scrappy Red Raiders of Decatur 7-3 (6-2).

5-9, 175 pounds

6A Gardendale

The two seniors played their last game as Rockets Friday night, and they went out in style with a 57-14 win over rival 5A Mortimer Jordan. McCain completed all 10 of his pass attempts for 236 yards and four touchdown passes of 38, 4, 28 and 82 yards. He also rushed for a 12-yard touchdown.

Hilliard rushed for 175 yards and three touchdown runs of 47, 7 and 25 yards. He added another 160 yards receiving including two touchdowns of 38 and 82 yards.

Brandon Heavens
5-10, 170 pounds
Senior Wide Receiver
6A Jess Lanier 7-3 (4-3)

The Auburn commitment and his Purple Tiger teammates played their last game of the season in a 27-21 defeat of playoff-bound 6A Stanhope Elmore. Heavens caught three passes for 73 yards and scored two touchdowns of 17 and 43 yards.

6A Prattville 8-1 (6-0)

The Lions put up a great performance against undefeated 5A Central Tuscaloosa that should strike fear in all future opponents. They laid the wood to the Falcons 47-0, snapping their 23-game win streak.

Egan had a career long 52-yard field goal and four extra points. The talented kicker is likely turning some heads in the collegiate world with his outstanding performances each week. He had eight kickoffs with seven touchbacks last week.

Lee recorded 10 tackles, three sacks, and forced a fumble that was returned for a touchdown in the shutout.

Prattville looks for their next prey as the No. 1 seed out of Region 4. They will host the Region 3 fourth seeded Smiths Station 6-4 (4-3).

Damian Minor
5-10, 170 pounds
Junior Running Back
6A Tuscaloosa County 10-0 (7-0)

Minor rushed for 153 yards on 23 carries with two scoring runs of 21 and 14 yards. He also caught four passes for 46 yards.

County High completed their second consecutive undefeated regular season with the 28-24 win over Oxford. They will host the fourth seed from Region 6, Pelham 6-4 (5-3).

Charles Payne
5-10, 175 pounds
Senior Wide Receiver
6A Sidney Lanier 4-6 (3-3)

Payne had an impressive night even if his Poets did lose to the top-ranked 5A Carver Montgomery 35-17. He caught eight passes for 244 yards with a touchdown of 95 yards.

The fourth seeded Sidney Lanier faces a tough task this week when they travel to take on the top-ranked Region 3 Tigers from Auburn 10-0 (7-0).
