Drew Phillips has caught fire as far as his recruitment goes. He had heard from a handful of schools two weeks ago, but that is far removed from where his recruitment is at the present time.
The 6-0, 180-pound running back/safety prospect has been on fire the past two weeks.
"Coach Noles has had over 30 schools call him and request film and transcripts, and he has received a lot of letters asking for the same thing," Drew Phillips reported from his home in Boaz, Ala.
"I have requests to send my film to 62 or 63 schools," Phillips exclaimed. "I have been hearing from BYU the most. They have called my coach eight times in the past two weeks. BYU wants me to call them so they can speak with me. They are recruiting me the hardest at the moment."
"Louisiana Tech is also calling a lot. They are right there with BYU. Those two just jumped on me and haven't let up."
While Phillips is courted by BYU and La. Tech, he is hearing from schools across the country as well.
"Alabama has called my coach twice, and they want me to come to their camp just for their elite prospects. One of their coaches told Coach Noles they were interested in me as a safety."
"I would not mind playing defense more, and Coach Noles told me today that I would likely be a starting safety. I played safety a little bit last year, but Coach Noles told me he didn't want me getting hurt, so I mostly played running back."
"I can't remember all the schools that have contacted my coach, but I do remember, BYU, La. Tech, Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Kentucky, San Diego State, San Jose State, Louisville, Southern Miss, Florida Atlantic and UCF. That's all I can think of right now," Phillips stated.
While it is too early to name favorites a few schools "stand-out" to Phillips.
"Right now I would say BYU and La. Tech because they are really recruiting me hard. Alabama, Michigan, Mississippi State, Marshall and Southern Miss. Those schools are showing the most interest in me with the exception of Michigan. I haven't heard from them, but I grew up a big Michigan fan," Phillips explained.
