Hatcher has taken in Junior Day visits to Clemson and Mississippi State prior to his trip to Auburn last weekend, but the Tigers left a good impression.
"I really enjoyed my visit to Auburn," Preston Hatcher told ScoutSouth.com from his home in Dothan, Ala.
"I was able to learn a lot about Auburn's tradition, which was one of the highlights of my trip. Living in the state of Alabama you know about Alabama and Auburn, but I didn't know nearly as much as I thought I did about Auburn and their tradition. I was impressed."
Hatcher was impressed with the tradition of the Tiger football program, and he also liked a lot of other things around the Auburn campus.
"After we finished our tour I met with Spencer Pybus and Kody Burns. I got to ask them questions about Auburn and things like that. It was good to hear from some of the players, and their thoughts about Auburn."
"Although I didn't get to meet with Coach Chizik I do like the way he ran everything down there. The visit to Auburn put them right up there with everyone else. I would say Auburn and Clemson had the best Junior Day experience so far."
Hatcher will trip to Vanderbilt March 21st to take a look at the Commodores, and he plans to visit a practice at UAB around the same time.
"I don't have any plans past Vandy and the visit to UAB," he said. "I believe our team will have some kind of camp with UAB a little later, but I'm not certain about that at this time."
"I do not have an offer, but I hope to pick one up sometime in the near future."
Preston Hatcher is on track to qualify with a 20 on the ACT and a 3.8 GPA. He has also passed all his exit exams.
