Davin Hawkins has been anxiously awaiting his senior season for quite sometime. The 6-2, 195-pound safety has long been thought of as a national recruit, and it appears that is the case.
While Hawkins is becoming a coveted prospect one thing appears as holding him back at the moment. Hawkins tore his ACL just past the halfway point of his junior season, and he is waiting for the doctor's release.
"I go back to my doctor April 1st," Hawkins explained from his home in Attalla, Ala.
"I have had a few schools tell me they were waiting for my release before they offered me a scholarship. I have been running full speed for a while, but they want to make sure I am healthy before they offer me a scholarship," Hawkins stated.
While Hawkins awaits his release he has had no problem with invitations to junior days. He has been to no less than three junior day events at Florida State, Vanderbilt and Auburn.
"I have enjoyed all my visits, including my trip to Auburn last weekend," Hawkins noted.
"I really enjoyed my trip to Auburn. I have been to Auburn before, but I had never met the new coaching staff. I liked everyone I met. They were all very nice as were all the players I met and talked to."
"Auburn has nice facilities, and they are always working to improve things there. I think Auburn is a great place."
While the Auburn Tigers are recruiting Hawkins, they are not alone.
"I still get tons of mail everyday, and coaches are calling my school. I am still hearing from Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida State, Mississippi State, Southern Miss, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Oklahoma. That isn't all, but that's all I can remember at the moment," Hawkins explained.
Davin Hawkins plans to take in as many junior days, camps and combines as he can over the spring and summer.
"I am just waiting to get released by Dr. Andrews so I can go to some camps and combines. I want to run my 40 and prove that I am healthy enough to play," Hawkins stated in conclusion.
