Zach Underwood talked Vanderbilt visit

Zach Underwood has patiently waited for his recruitment to take shape, and his patience is starting to pay off. Underwood is hearing from some heavyweight schools, and the coaches have started getting involved in the recruiting process. He explains in this latest update.

"I went for an unofficial visit to Vanderbilt yesterday," Zach Underwood said.

"I went to Vanderbilt with Coach Reese, and I liked it a lot. Once we arrived we toured the campus, the football facilities and the stadium. It was all very nice, and convenient. I really liked the way everything was laid out. You don't have to walk very far to get from one place to another."

"After the tour I got to go to an offensive line meeting and set in on a film session. I watched about an hour of practice, and then I sat down with Coach Caldwell for about 30 minutes."

"He told me I was one of the top centers on their board, and he wants me to come back for camp. Vanderbilt really liked that I am a true center, and not a guard trying to make the switch to center," Underwood explained.

Vanderbilt isn't the only school showing interest in the 6-4, 270-pound prospect from Albertville High School.

"I have started hearing from some new schools. I am now hearing from Clemson, Alabama, Mississippi State and UNA."

"I was already receiving interest from Georgia Tech, and Coach [Paul] Johnson called my mentor last week just to let him know they were interested in me."

"North Carolina called just to let me know they had not had time to watch the film I sent them due to spring practice, but my film would be one of the first they watched when they got back to evaluating players."

"UNA is also showing me a lot of interest, and I'm not certain about Alabama. I think they (Alabama) have invited me to attend their camp later this summer, but I'm not sure."

"Mississippi State just called and asked some questions about me this week, so I'm not sure where that is headed."

"I have no plans right now. I am working hard in the weight room, and I am looking forward to attending any combine I can get invited to. I will decide which camps I am going to try to attend a little later."
