Zach Underwood back from Tuscaloosa

Zach Underwood is a fast rising center prospect from Albertville, Ala., and one of the few true center prospects in the state. Underwood recently took in Alabama's spring game, and participated in the Fox Sports/ Southeast Elite Camp.

Zach Underwood has several elite schools showing interest in the 6-4, 270-pound offensive center. Vanderbilt, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Alabama and Auburn are all taking a good look at the northeast Alabama product, and more expect to see him in camp.

Underwood and his parents spent the weekend in Tuscaloosa attending the A-Day game and the Fox Sports/ Southeast Elite Camp.

"I went to the A-Day game more as a fan than anything else," Underwood told

"I had a lot of fun down there at the game. The atmosphere was great, and the game was pretty good for a spring scrimmage."

"I didn't talk to any of the coaches. I just went to look around more than anything."

"I enjoyed the camp the following day as well. I learned a lot at the camp. The coaches that worked with us were very knowledgeable, and it helped me a lot."

"I learned some new pass protections that I have never run at Albertville, or as a center. I was kind of learning on the fly, but I think I did pretty good having never seen some of the things we were doing."

"I will take the experience home with me and learn from it this spring and next fall."

Underwood received good news Friday afternoon.

"I had never taken the ACT before. I had never had any reason to get in a hurry, until some schools started recruiting me. I got my score Friday, and I made a 23. I have at least a 3.5 in my core classes, so I should be fully qualified," Underwood exclaimed.

While attending the Southeast Elite Camp a couple of players caught Underwood's eye.

"I saw a lot of good looking athletes at the camp, but the two that stood out to me were Jake Holland and Nigel Terrell. They really looked good to me," Underwood concluded.
