Drew Phillips has visitors

Drew Phillips finished fourth in the 100 meter dash in Alabama's Class 5A state track meet last weekend. Phillips turned in an 11.23 while third place turned in an 11.22. Phillips now turns his attention back to football as college coaches have been visiting Boaz (Ala.) High School to get a look at the 6-0, 185-pound athlete.

"I have been talking to coaches that have been by practice," Drew Phillips said.

"SMU came by school and watched me practice. They told me and Chase Williams that they were very interested in both of us. They want us to come out for a visit as soon as we can."

"Coach Neal Brown from Troy came by and talked to Coach Noles. He (Coach Brown) said that Troy was offering me, and he looked forward to talking to me. I was gone to the state track meet when he came by the school," Phillips explained.

Coach Spangler (Louisiana Tech) also came by while I was gone. He talked to coach Noles, and he said they really liked me. I am supposed to call Coach Spangler tonight and talk to him for a while."

"Samford also sent some coaches by the school to talk to Coach Noles while I was gone to the track meet. They are interested in me also."

"BYU is supposed to be at my school Wednesday and Thursday to watch me. I am looking forward to that. BYU is probably my favorite again. They have just done a great job recruiting me."

"I currently have offers from BYU, Wyoming, SMU, Idaho and Troy. Others are still recruiting me, and some say they are going to offer me once they have seen me in person."

Phillips has a long road trip planned later this month.

"I am going to camp at Wyoming May 31st, and then I am flying to BYU. I am also going to try to drive out to Idaho while I'm out there just to see what it is like. The only other camp I know I'm going to is Michigan. That's it for now," Phillips said.
