"I was just finishing dinner when I got a call from the coaches at Louisville, and they told me they were calling to offer me a full scholarship to play football for them," Zach Underwood told ScoutSouth.com.
"It was like a huge weight had been lifted off me. It was great to get my first offer, and it was even more exciting it came from a BCS school like Louisville."
"I am grateful to have an offer from a great school like Louisville, and I want to get up there to check them out. I have been looking at the campus and their stadium on the internet, and it looks great."
"I am interested in them, that's for certain, but I am also looking forward to getting some other offers. I would like to have some options. I think it's good to have some options to look at and compare."
While Louisville is the first school to offer the 6-4, 275-pound center from Albertville, (Ala.), they aren't likely the last.
"I am receiving the most interest from Vanderbilt, Troy, Murray State, Middle Tennessee State, and UTC. Others are still contacting me, but I think those schools are recruiting me the hardest."
"Troy told me if I come to their camp I stand a very good chance of landing an offer. Murray State is another school that I feel is very close to offering me, and Vanderbilt likes me."
"Vanderbilt told me they wanted to see me in camp before making a decision, and Auburn also wants to evaluate me more over the summer."
"Arkansas State is also still recruiting me pretty hard. They would like to have T.J. Pams and me out for their camp. They really like T.J., too."
Underwood talked of his summer plans.
"I am going to keep working hard to get bigger, faster, and stronger," he said. "I have made some strides in the weight room, and I want to continue to improve my strength. I am benching 335, squatting 510, and power cleaning 245."
"I have been working on my pass blocking and my technique since Coach Poole arrived. We have changed some things we do, and I think that will help me a lot this coming season. I'm working hard everyday to be my best before next season begins."
"I am also planning to go to camps at Alabama, Troy and Vanderbilt. I would like to go to some others, but I know I am going to those three."
"I am going to Louisville for an unofficial visit in July, and I could possibly camp there too," Underwood concluded.
