Hatcher talks recruiting

Preston Hatcher made his rounds this summer after attending a number of camps and took several unofficial visits around the Southeast. He discusses his summer travels with in this latest interview.

Preston Hatcher is a 6-4, 280-pound offensive guard prospect out of Northview High School in Dothan, Ala., and he is receiving interest from schools all around the Southeast. Hatcher attended a number of camps this summer and took several unofficial visits, including his latest visit to South Alabama.

"I was on my way home from a camp at LSU when I stopped by South Alabama for an unofficial visit," Hatcher said.

"We ended up going back Monday and taking a tour of the campus. Coach Clark met me there and showed me around campus. He showed us where the new facilities are being built. The weight room is going to be around 50,000 square feet, which will be the second largest in the sate behind Alabama."

"We looked at both new practice fields, and they were very nice. One had new field turf on it, and the other was also brand new. Everything was very nice, and impressive."

"As I mentioned, I went to the LSU camp and I did pretty well there. I talked to the coaches after the camp. Tey said they wanted to watch me this season, and that I was definitely a division-one player. It was nice to hear that from the coaches."

"My best camp was probably Vanderbilt. I done well in all the drills, and I didn't lose a single one-on-one matchup the entire time I was there. Vandy wants me to send them a film about halfway through my senior season to further evaluate me."

"I went to Southern Miss, Georgia Tech and UAB camps too. They all basically told me the same thing Vanderbilt did, but Southern Miss seemed a lot more interested. I talked to the coaches for 30 minutes or more after the camp. They took me on a tour of the campus and told me they were going to stay in close contact with me the first two or three weeks of the season."

"The only offer I have is a verbal offer from Appalachian State. Jacksonville State is talking about an offer, and Arkansas State told me they were going to offer me."

"So, I'm still just waiting to see what happens. I'm still waiting on my first written offer to come in," Preston Hatcher concluded.
