Stars of Alabama 5A

Seniors dominated this week's top performances, but several underclassmen like Valley's Enrique Florence made the cut. 'Stars of Alabama' presented here:

Chris Davis
5-11, 185 pounds
Senior Athlete
Woodlawn High School

Davis rushed for 178 yards on 23 carries and scored a touchdown in his team's 10-0 win over 6A Jackson-Olin. He completed six of his nine passing attempts for 50 yards. Davis had eight tackles and two interceptions on defense.

Faith Academy

Williams rushed for 273 yards on 17 carries in his team's 41-28 win over St. James. The senior had scores of 15, 58, 30, and 38 yards.

Kelsey Pope
6-1, 185 pounds
Senior Quarterback
Sylacauga High School

Pope rushed for 186 yards on 11 carries scoring three times on runs of 1, 67 and 62 yards in just over a half of play. Sylacauga finished their season at 7-3 with a 41-13 win over B.B. Comer.

Enrique Florence
6-3, 185 pounds

Valley High School

Florence accrued 12 tackles in the 22-16 win over 6A Smiths Station. He also scored the game winning touchdown on an 8-yard run with just over a minute remaining on the clock. Florence already has scholarship offers from Alabama and Auburn among others. Valley will travel this week to face the reigning champion and No. 1 seed, Vigor.

Myles Nordrgren
6-2, 180 pounds
Senior Quarterback
Etowah High School

Nordgren completed 13-of-25 pass attempts for 391 yards and three touchdowns in his team's 56-34 loss to North Jackson. The Blue Devils finished the season 4-6.

Davis completed 22-of-31 passing attempts for 308 yards. He scored three touchdowns on throws of 2, 47 and 4 yards in the team's 67-54 win over 4A Douglas. Both receivers had 100 yards in receptions. Williamson with six and Knight with eight receptions. Mayes had 146 yard rushing on 15 carries and scored four times. He also recorded an interception on defense.

Pleasant Grove High School

Thomas had eight tackles in his team's 31-14 win over 6A Pinson Valley. He also blocked a field goal and returned an interception 22 yards. Pleasant Grove will take the short trip this week to play top seed McAdory.

Ladarius Ware
5-7, 165 pounds
Senior Wide Receiver/defensive back
Eufaula High School

Ware and his teammates won a raucous 65-50 decision over Russell County. The senior had two interceptions, one returned for a 25-yard touchdown. Ware also rushed for 88 yards including a 52-yard touchdown. Eufaula will host Spanish Fort as the second seed out of region 2.
