Beauregard's Kyle Brown (6-3, 240) will make his presence felt in this game. The offensive and defensive lineman was named All-Area pre-season.
This is the Rattlers' first appearance in the play-offs since 2004. Watch for senior lineman Dillard Braziel (6-0, 265). He can turn up in the backfield at times.
Also, Danny Woodson Jr. (6-2, 185) is a junior wide receiver/cornerback for LeFlore. He is the son of Danny Woodson Sr. who played at Alabama.
#4 Gulf Shores (8-2)
#1 Tallassee (8-2)
This isn't a normal 4-1 matchup. Region 1 (Gulf Shores) produced last year's champ in Vigor. This year, it was a scramble for the top spot with three teams at 8-2.
Hunter Mullins (6-3, 180) is Tallassee's punter/kicker. He was selected First Team All-State as a junior in 2008.
Tallassee has three backs who participate heavily in Coach Rodney Dollar's run-first offense. Senior Mike Smith (5-9, 170), senior Quan Williams (5-8, 225) are the running backs and junior Trey Cochran-Gill (5-10, 175) is the quarterback. Together the three have over 2,600 yards rushing this season.
Look for the very talented junior linebacker T.C. Robinson (5-11, 215).
Gulf Shores quarterback Logan Paul (6-1, 185) has been recognized twice by Coach Saban at the University of Alabama camps. Paul will have senior wide receiver Brandon Gottfried (6-5, 210) as his big target.
Senior linebacker John David Swiger (6-5, 195) has been offered by Jacksonville State.
#3 Spanish Fort (8-2)
#2 Eufaula (6-4)
Eufaula scored 65 points last week. That's the good news. They gave up 50 to Russell County. Senior Ladarius Ware (5-7, 165) plays both sides of the ball at receiver and defensive back.
Spanish Fort comes in with senior quarterback Patrick McGavin (6-3, 205) and junior center Reese Dismukes (6-3, 270). Eufaula will have their hands full with this third seeded team.
#4 Valley (7-3)
#1 Vigor (7-3)
This might be the 5A game with the most division 1 talent. Juniors Marvin Shinn (6-3, 170) playing for the Wolves, and Enrique Florence (6-3, 185) for Valley are big stars on the horizon. Wide receiver Shinn is committed to Alabama while the All-State defensive back Florence has offers from both Auburn and Alabama. Might these two wind up on the same team in two years?
Vigor also has senior Quinterrius Eatmon (6-6, 335) with offers to Auburn and Mississippi State, senior wide receiver Jackie Williams (5-10, 175) has been offered by Oklahoma and Southern Miss. Junior Thomas Williams (6-4, 290) is another to watch from his offensive tackle position.
#4 John Carroll (7-3)
#1 Carver Montgomery (9-1)
John Carroll has an interesting prospect in Kameron Wood (6-4, 220). He is a junior defensive end. Although he doesn't have offers yet, he favors Alabama, Auburn and FSU.
Reginald Aaron (6-1, 215) will lead the Rams. The senior quarterback has experience under his belt. He passed for 2,390 yards as a junior leading his team to a 13-1 record and he will try to do that one better this year. Carver has a host of talented linebackers in the stable too.
#4 Chilton County (5-5)
#1 Briarwood Christian (7-3)
Chilton County has been threatening to upset a top team the last couple of weeks with Greenville and Bibb County being close games. This could be the one.
Chilton County is led by senior quarterback (6-1, 185) Taylor Hughes while the Lions have Mississippi State commitment Zeke Walters (6-4, 230) at linebacker. Senior cornerback Justin Shade (5-9, 220 pound) is the son of former Tide player Sam Shade.
#2 Shelby County (9-1)
Senior running back Chris McDowell (6-1, 195) will lead Shelby County against a tough Demopolis squad headed up by the senior and South Alabama defensive lineman commitment Marteze Jackson (6-3, 210). Watch for Greenville's offensive lineman Steven Foster (6-4, 250) who is just a sophomore.
#4 Moody (6-4)
#1 Greenville (10-0)
Auburn University fans should enjoy this game. They will have verbal pledges on both sides of the ball. Chad Slade (6-6, 320) is a senior guard for Moody, and Kenneth Carter (6-4, 270) is a defensive tackle for undefeated Greenville.
#3 Springville (7-3)
#2 Fairfield (7-3)
Speaking of Auburn commitments, Springville's talented senior receiver Jeremy Richardson (6-4, 220) will take to the field in this game, but Mississippi State's senior offensive line commitment Chase Hughes (6-3, 295) is out with an injury.
Fairfield's senior offensive lineman Terrence Swift (6-5, 315) has offers to Southern Miss, Louisville and Arkansas State.
#4 Wenonah (6-3)
#1 Cullman (10-0)
Wenonah is led by senior quarterback Brandon Allen (6-1, 185) while Cullman has the big men. Senior defensive lineman Jonathan Robertson (6-5, 255) who has offers to both Troy and UAB. The brash Spencer Region (6-6, 340) is the big junior offensive line prospect. He currently holds an offer from UAB, but he has the attention of many top schools.
#3 Parker (5-4)
#2 Walker (8-2)
Senior Demetric Price (6-2, 180) leads Parker as quarterback, but he will face Walker's outstanding junior defensive back Jacquese Kirk (5-11, 165). Kirk was First Team All-State in his sophomore season.
#4 Pleasant Grove (6-4)
#1 McADory (8-1)
Pleasant Grove boasts senior receiver Michael Hicks (6-3, 190) and McAdory has senior lineman Randall Reeves (6-2, 290).
#3 Athens (7-3)
#2 Boaz (7-2)
Athens comes to town with 6-7, 200 pound junior quarterback Stephen Rivers. Rivers already holds an offer from Tennessee.
BYU commitment Drew Phillips (6-0, 185) is the senior workhorse for Boaz.
#4 Albertville (5-5)
#1 Hartselle (8-2)
Albertville has center Zach Underwood (6-4, 270). The senior has already fought off other suitors to commit to Samford.
Hartselle's junior quarterback Will Lang (5-10, 175) is tough as nails.
#3 Southside Gadsden (5-5)
#2 Russellville (8-2)
The University of Alabama's verbal pledge for the class of 2011, Brent Calloway (6-3, 210), will suit up at linebacker for Russellville.
Fort Payne, AL
#4 Muscle Shoals (8-2)
#1 Fort Payne (8-2)
Fort Payne has a lot of young talent, and they spread the wealth. Muscle Shoals has rebounded under new coach Scott Basden. Either one of these teams could produce a good prospect, so get out there and scout the talent.
