Excellent high school football game. Brophy receivers made many outstanding plays throughout the game. Pittenger was great the entire night. Either with great catches when well covered, or shedding tackles on short passes. Kempton made two outstanding touchdown catches. Two bad Hamilton turnovers had them down 28 to 7 at half. Brophy looked like the better team on both sides of the ball and controlled it for most of the first half. Brophy played tentative in third quarter and got fortunate to recover 3 of their own fumbles. Hamilton scored right away in the fourth and then scored two more times with their offense really looking good. Brophy defense seemed to be in prevent as they were giving the Hamilton receivers 10 yards or more at the line. Lockhart found multiple receivers on many third down plays, and coverted a key 4th down to get the Huskies to tie it at 28. Cade Knox then hit PIttenger on a great catch for a 60 yard TD. Hamilton had a great drive on scored on a 3rd and 2 from the 3 yard line to tie it at 35. Overtime saw an offensive interference push Brophy back, and they missed a 47 yard FG and Hamilton kicked a short FG to win it. Both teams start at the 10 in overtime.
On a sad not of a great game, the Hamilton fans were terrible. I took my young nephew to his first game. The Hamilton PARENTS were cursing and calling coaches "f-ing idiots," and whining on every play about the coaches plays or the refs calls or both. I go to a lot of games, and obviously here a lot of coaching and ref criticism, but this was over the line and in front of MANY children. I finally found the more mellow fans on the north side. I had to move twice because of this behavior. They sounded like entited babies that their team could be losing.
