Pierre NEwton is a WG that is from Arizona that needs to be noticied in Az.In terms of his game, NEwton is very athletic; he has a nice frame and he is quick with the ball. His handle is top notch and he uses his gift to get anywhere on the court he likes. Right now, Newton's game is more geared toward attacking the cup rather than scoring from the perimeter. One of the things that is most impressive about Newton is the fact that he is still very young (he just turned 13 in May 2006) for his size and skill set.
Saguaro's the team to beat. And right now, I have a hard time seeing anyone doing that. They've got too many offensive weapons, and while they lack a true big presence down low, they've got the role players to get it done. Their defense is solid, and Rhodes and Ruth are both emerging as the stars Witherill needed to take some of the weight off their collective shoulders. Look for them to go all the way this year.. and then repeat next year when they return all 4 of 5 starters.
Saguaro is probably still the team to beat, but, after a poor start this season, Ironwood Ridge has been on a roll winning 16 of their last 17 games including wins over CDO, Apollo, Notre Dame Prep, and Casa Grande.
