Also, aca, why would playing on a 100 yard field suggest there would be any more scoring than normal? They will still adjust the width of the field and most 8-man teams play on 100 yard fields anyway. If there is a lot of scoring, the length of the field will not be a major factor.
The last three years the field at NAU dome has not been adjusted for the eight man game. Do not know what they will do today. But getting to the corner and going upfield with extra space will play to the team with more speed.
While I agree the 100 yards will NOT make a difference. I think the width will.
I am not sure why they don't. Last year at the dome it was all 11 man football. I have coached 8 man in the past and they never changed the width of the field, but two years ago i seen the state game and they put cones for the side lines. I think that game was at Bradshaw mountain.
They'll usually add a line or a strip to make it regulation size for 8-man. Cones would be crazy to try to keep straight. Why not play 8-man playoff games on fields already suited for it, like at Salt River? Or, a nearby neutral field closer to the teams playing.
