This first round game will be good, I heard that the refs in Morenci screwed Thatcher over (at least that's what I heard in Thatcher). Any ideas and thoughts about that and about the game that will be played this weekend?
I was at the game last week as well. The refs didn't cost Thatcher the game but they definately didn't help either. Thatcher's biggest problem was the defense, they had a hard time all night. It didn't help that Thatcher had two touchdowns called back.
Thatcher fans believe those TD' being called back cost them the game and believe the penalties were a farce created by poor officiating.
Morenci fans believe that they were good calls by the officials.
Realists like Christo understand that there are other contributing factors on the outcome of the game.
Regardless, it's a never ending argument... Much like turnovers. I always love it when a fan says " well we would have easily won the game if we hadn't of had so many turnovers, never concurring to the fact that it was the other teams good play that probably caused those turnovers.
The truth is that although there are poor officials out there, they rarely are the sole contributor to a loss. More likely that the team with less penalties and turnovers wins the game, and often times those penalties are legit and should be realized by that team and utilized to get better. Same with tunovers.
