Great job Thatcher for beating Morenci and then Joy back to back, after losing to those two back to back to finish the regular season. Now they'll face Yuma Catholic, whom they were able to beat early in the year. Should be a good game.
"Rarely seen I-Formation hand-off" is rare for Thatcher, who generally (at least this year) has been running a zone-read option, right?
Thatcher coach Dave Jefferies decided to put in a play hardly used in scholastic football. With his team down by 5 points, 3 seconds remaining and on the Joy Christian 1-yard line, Jefferies employed an I-formation.
Quarterback Heath Motes promptly handed the ball to I-back Garett Bryce and the 5-9, 207 pounder senior plowed into the end zone on the final play of the game.
BTW...don't look now...wagon is definitely ahead of the mule...but we COULD have an all public school matchup in the finals in D5!
That possibility of an all public final has not happened since when? Wondering what other people's thoughts and reasons might be. I believe the economy plays a significant role with regard to who and how many can and will both pay property taxes and still send their child to a private institution.
