This isn't really a view on the game, but I am very interested to see how VL holds up. I know teams improve over the course of a season and other teams regress (injuries, etc.) but there is little doubt that VL's place in the discussion concerning D6's top teams will be pretty clear by the outcome and final score of this game. I realize there's no insight there, but I am very eager to see how this plays out.
Going to be careful here as not to offend anyone. I know people on both sides who I consider good friends. So I will be careful with my words and try to give an honest assessment.
Last year's game between these 2 teams got out of hand fast. VL was down 60-0 at the half. And this came the week after Valley shocked Mogollon IN Mogollon and shut them out 12-0.
I would imagine this will be much more competitive this year. Bagdad is going to at least have to break a sweat. Bowie and Newton are too good to be completely shut down. VL should probably put up some points.
But I would imagine the points will not come as easy as some might think. The Sultans will no doubt stack the box and make the VL qb beat them in the air. Something that hasnt been the Flames' strong suit the past couple of seasons.
And will Valley be able to slow down Bagdad? Thats the question.
I saw VL play at the scrimmage game in Salome. VL dominated the other teams. To me VL wasn't challenged by Salome or Ajo what so ever. When VL played Salome‚ it was nothing like last years play off game. In fact Ajo looked to play tougher than Salome played.
I tend to agree, aca. But a close score, regardless of the circumstances, will definitely signify VL's claim as a contender. I know it's early, but a Bagdad blow-out or a close game will tell us everything we need to know about VL's chances.
