What would be very interesting, is if we all had to post our names and what schools we are affiliated with. Some of us make it very obvious, but others do a decent job of hiding it. I think we would be surprised that a good half of us are coaches. That number might be conservative.
In past years, this "interwebs" thing was all new, and the boys played with it like a new toy. A lot of players got on here without much of a filter.
As the coaches became more tech-savy, they saw what how the boys were giving opponents bulletin-board material and pretty much shut them down.
People began to realize what is posted stays in public forever.
Add to that the advent of Facebook, Twitter, etc. which are more immediate communication methods and you see the median age on here rising, and thus the posts more mature.
I am from VC (obviously), don't coach football, but I am involved in our program and do coach other sports.
I mostly come on here to try and make sure we don't have any knuckleheads making us look bad (all schools have a few of those), but I will throw my opinion out from time to time.
Good take Al.
I remember putting that fire out before it ever started the 1st year I became a head coach. Laid down the law early, and never had a problem with a player running their yapper. I remember a couple of guys from Orme coming on here and pretending to be Wildcats. Its always easy to smoke out those Warriors...
I think you are spot on. All of the nonsense is probably on Facebook and Twitter now. Thats why we never see it here.
This is like the old folks home for HS football fans.
