Ok, so VU was supposed to have an incredible RB and I was stoked to go to the game. I was sorely disappointed with another Mogollon blow out. Mustang D was all over the place. Landwerlyn was held to very few yards. What am I supposed to expect from Lutheran? Any standouts? Or is this going to be another phone-in game for Mogollon? Give me some feedback. I want to see someone put up a fight. Am I going to have to wait for the championship game vs JC again?
Landwerlen #25 had the flu, and threw up severel times on and off the field that night. He is sorry that he could not proform better for his team and the fans. Mogollon has a fine team and even though we lost it was pleasure to watch the Mustangs play. Your running back is very good and so is your Q back. Heck you guys have a solid team all around. (Not to menchen a great field) Good luck at the playoffs.
Mogollon put a beat down on VL the first week of the season. Both teams are obviously not the same teams we saw in the first week. VL has become much stronger defensively even though they have lost 2 of there best defensive players for the year. O'Brien is a strong and fast back. When he finds a groove and gets going there is really no stopping him.
Its hard to tell how this game will turn out. A 66-12 beating in the first week tells me this will be a long game for VL but you know VL is gonna come in looking for some payback and to look for an upset. Mogollon can not look at week 1 results. If they look past VL they may be in for a long night as well.
VL has quite a strong line, they open up those wholes for O'Brien! he is a great back, he is strong an quick! There full back is quite good as well! if you stop those two, then mogollon has this in the bag. the VL defense will be lookin to make stops every drive of the mustangs! i say to both teams, Goodluck and be prepared for a battle.
mogollon takes it big....valley lutheran is good but they wont matchup against mogollon at all........... it good they made it to the semi's but playing two easy first round teams is how they got there.. i think if they would have played st. david, mayer, they would have already been knocked off..... but still they are in the semis so congrats to them
So is everyone thinking Mogollon is going to win because they are so good, or because VL is not so good? From what I have heard Mogollon is by far the best team in the state. I have seen VL and I know two things, when they get hot they are HOT and they will score in a hurry, and that they are very physical upfront in their line. But why does no one even give VL a chance?
I watched the first game they played and that is the only time I have seen VL play. I have seen Mogollon play twice and they are very good. I do not think they have gone down hill so that would mean that Vl will really have to step it up. They say that obrian can do we will have to wait and see..my early prediction is:
Mog will beat VL because they are quite a bit better. This isn't a knock against VL, but they're not up to that level. There were really five teams in the state that could win the championship this year and now two of them are out. JC vs Bagdad could be a good game, especially if JC's QB cannot throw. Mogollon will meet the winner. At this point, I'd have to give JC the edge because it's hard to beat a good team twice, especially if Bryant is coaching them. Still the possible broken thumb or hand could be a factor. He didn't throw well against SD.
Mogollon might also have a problem with flu. Let's all remember what happened last year. In 2009, VU caught the flu just in time for the SD game. They came to SD feeling ill and got destroyed. But, in the process, they gave the flu to SD, who were sick just in time for the Mogollon game. A couple weeks later, Mogollon got beat by JC in the championship. Were they completely healthy, or did they have some of the flu that started in VU?
Fast forward to 2010. VU is healthy against SD and plays them very close. But, they then get the flu in time for a second round matchup against Mogollon and get destroyed. In two weeks Mogollon will have to face Bagdad or JC (assuming that they beat VL), just enough time for the bug to mutate and make them ill.
What this makes me think is that any matchup with VU in October is a really bad draw, even if you win.
The question is: Where is VU getting the flu? Are they manufacturing it in Elfrida or did they get it from someone else?
When the best QB in 1A only has to throw the ball for 23 yards to win by 26, you know the team is good. Maner took a break this last week and let Baker and Stephens mangle VU. And that was supposed to be a tight game. I just don't see it being close. Too many weapons, not enough quarters to use them. Mogollon by 40.
I for one am tired of seeing the north or south in the championship. I would love to see the 2 west teams take this and play in the title game. Not saying it will happen but it is something I would love to see!
Congrats to Valley Luthren on making the Semi's thats a huge accomplishment for them and its huge for the program and prestiege in years to come. The difference between themand mogollon is that anything sort of this is a failure for mogollon they have made the semifinals every year for the last 7 or 8 years i believe and they have played in the state finals in 3 of the last 4 years. Mogollon knows what it takes to get it done. They played earlier this year in what i believe was a 66-12 beating but i believe this game will be alot closer. when i watched Luthren they had alot of size and athleticism and i dont think they played their best in the first game of the season. But at the same time neither did mogollon, they have so many weapons this year especially in the backfield. In the end mogollon is to much for Luthren and will win this game. look for mgollon to make it 4 times in the last 5 years in the state championship game. mogollon 54 luthren 14. setting up what in my opinion will possibly be the best state finals since the 2006 mayer mogollon game. im excited to watch
