Thatcher really took it to TPrep in the second half. It was those short outs that really got to the TPrep zone defense.
It's interesting that Thatcher knew all the new formations TPrep put in for the Williams game, considering that the Thatcher coach supposedly said they weren't going to trade film, and just use the film they had of their game with TPrep from earlier this season. Perhaps a little bit of foul play on their part perhaps?
There was no supposedly. He and the Wilcox made a pact that the loser of their game would not give film to Tempe Prep. After the Tempe Prep coach confirmed this with both coaches, the Thatcher coach told Tempe Prep that ge refused to exchange film. However the Thatcher coach still made sure to get film from Williams. This is a violation of AIA playoff rules as film exchange between opponents in the playoffs is mandatory. To put the icing on the end of the game the Thatcher head coach refused to shake any hands of Tempe Prep players after the game and rather chose to give an interview. An extreme lack of sportsmanship and class.
That may have been true last night, Thatcher didn't really beat TPA though, TPA beat themselves with mistakes and penalties. If TPA doesn't fumble twice...they win. I would say on the hitting hard, both teams are extremely hard hitters. But even if TPA had won and their coach pulled that stuff that Thatcher did, I would be ashamed...but that would never happen because the TPA coach is a class act and an excellent example for any player. This is a perfect example of why the "no filming" playoff games rule (which is only in the 2A by the way) should be lifted. Who knows what would have happened if TPA had Thatcher's new offense on film...hmmmm. Wouldn't you like to win knowing you did everything on the up and up and it was an even match from the beginning? Congratulations to Thatcher, they were a tough team, see you next year.
Those Thatcher boys played some hard football and deserved the win. Both teams had some high emotion going on, and who wouldn't for a game like that. The fact that Tempe Preps coach interrupted the Thatcher coach's interview with some rude comments and that one of Tempe Preps players came over to the Thatcher fan's bleachers after the game and started yelling some choice words (and had to be escorted back to his bench by his coaches) doesn't exactly make them models of good sportsmanship or great examples for their team either. Emotions get high in these games so lets stop the "film" excuses and the mud slinging. Great job to both teams. What an excellent game to watch. That was some good football.
Ok thanks, FB. I wasnt aware of that. But you can send scouts to games, correct? Why not send someone down to scout and take notes? There are ways to get information about teams other than just video? I think its just an excuse.
Maybe no public school would trade with you because they are tired of you privates with your endless talent base to choose from. Thatcher only has a limited group of students to choose from while you guys have the entire Phoenix metropolitan area to choose from. I for one am glad there was no film for you. Way to band together publics. Maybe this will serve as a wakeup call to you private schools that noone wants you in the 2A.
Hey grildor...it shows how much you know if you think Tempe Prep is a private school. They are a public charter school. The school is open to anyone and there is no tuition. Do some research before you spout your ridiculous opinions.
this game is about the athletes that played their hearts out last night, words arent going to change a thing. the win wasnt about who had film, or who had the better coach even.. it was about who wanted it more. congratulations to both teams for making it this far, thatcher.. best of luck next week.
