Wow! Breaking news out of SHS Head Football Coach position open! Coach Walker is out after a couple of hard years. Bad deal for the players. They will get to start with a coach that is thrown in last minute (like two years ago) and the kids wll try to adapt once again to his way of thinking. What is the board thinking? Give the coach a chance he's only been there a couple of years! Look at the volleyball program they haven't been very successful the last few years and the basketball team isn't that great either. What's the deal with SHS?
What do you mean what is wrong with SHS. We hired a good coach and he ran to EAC. Not the schools fault. I have interviewed and have been in interviews and the the person says I will be here forever and I am going to be loyal. Don't blame them for giving the job to Jones who said all of the right things and then having to scramble and fill the job when he decided to leave. Then they gave it to Walker and now they are thinking they may need to hear the I am going to be here forever speech again from someone. They should have hired Jim Hughes, but that is another story. The volleyball team really. They have not won a title in a while but they have at least made it to the playoffs every year. How come you did not mention Track, Wrestling, Baseball, Softball, or basketball (all made the playoff's). Come on don't point fingers at the school "SHS" I think they are trying to make the best of a sub par football season last year. Lets face it the measure of a program is the playoffs in this society that is harsh but true. Safford football is in a rebuilding year and understand that no matter who is the coach, Safford is a few years away from anything in football. Take pleasure that we got to watch volleyball at state this year, both basketball teams right now, four wrestlers the other day, a baseball and softball team and a champion track team.
(NOT CONFIRMED) but...Story is that SHS hired a school teacher our of Morenci to coach the Bulldogs this year, (school board vote tonight) Morenci Freeport mine workers describe him as young, (25) no experience, and will have to put together a coaching staff (none of current staff will coach due to no loyalty from administration). Not sayin anything bad about the guy I really don't know him or his ability but hope the administration knows something we don't and he's here for the long haul! These boys deserve a consistant program! Schools out and no sign of a summer program. Good luck to this guy he has alot of eyes on him.
