I havent done rankings in awhile. But I have more time on my hands than I need or want.
Im bored. So why not....
Division 6 Top 12:
1. Joseph City (1-0) 2. Pima (1-0) 3. Mogollon (1-0) 4. St. David (1-0) 5. Mayer (1-0) 6. Valley Lutheran (1-0) 7. Bagdad (1-0) 8. Superior (1-0) 9. Duncan (1-0) 10. Valley Union (0-1) 11. Joy Christian (1-0) 12. Ajo (0-1)
nolanwest wrote: I disagree with the Ajo ranking. They lost to Valley Lutheran and the game wasn't as close as the score portrays. Ajo scored late in the game and Dmitri sat out most of the game with an ankle injury.
Rankings are nothing but fun and good debate.
But is Ajo bad? Or is VL very good?
Who would you put at 12? I have a feeling I know your answer.
ajo is missing key personel and many injuries. ther key running back onli played defense the first half. wen he went to offense everyone else returned to there original positions and ajo was coming back.
Here is what the list will look like after this week (top 3 are a cut above the rest)
Re: Week 1 Rankings: Division 6
1 Joe City 2 Mogollon 3 Pima 4 Valley Lutheran 5 Valley Union 6 Duncan 7 Bagdad 8 Joy Christian 9 Gilbert Christian 10 Superior 11 St David 12 Mayer
Be realistic, St. David and Mayer are good but you can't put them at 4 and 5. Look at the talent objectively and give the other teams a break
Are you serious right now? You are putting St. David at 11 and Mayer at 12? St. David is returning probably the best QB in division 6 and Mayer only lost 3 people over the off season. And putting Gilbert Christian in front of SD and Mayer? This is Gilbert Christian's first year and you're starting them off at #9? And what has Joy Christian proved to put them at #8? They blew out a team that probably should be playing a JV schedule 96-0. Lets see how they do against a real team like Mogollon, Joe City, or even Pima. Heck, lets see how they do this week vs Mayer. I think those rankings will come back and haunt you in the weeks to come...
I have watched a lot of 1 A football over the years. In the past 5 years that is about all that I have watched. Last year I watched in person not on film Mogollon, St. David, Mayer, Valley Lutheran, Joseph City, Duncan, Bagdad. I am not an expert but my feeling is that until an unknown beats a known they don't get ranked very high. Or in other words you have to beat a top team to be ranked as a top team.
Last week I had (Preseason) After week one
1. Joseph City 1. Joseph City 1-0 2. Pima 2. Pima 1-0 3. Valley Union 3. St. David 1-0 4. St. David 4. Mogollon 1-0 5. Mogollon 5. Duncan 1-0 6. Duncan 6. Valley Union 0-1 7. Mayer 7. Mayer 1-0 8. Joy Christian 8. Joy Christian 1-0 9. Superior 9. Superior 1-0 10. Bagdad 10. Bagdad 1-0
That is the way I see it so for what ever it is worth. If Joy Beats Mayer this week they may go to Number 6 in my poll and remember folks this is for fun there is no science in it. And I know the top programs pretty good. So Joy if you should knock off a top 5 team we will know you are good.
I have been asked why I do not have Valley Lutheran in my top ten. They did make it to the semis last year this I know but they have yet to beat a top team. If you look in my first rankings I do have them looking in. I know Coach Bob Wolf and I think he is great with kids. I just think that Valley Lutheran is still more interested in schooling not win at all cost. (which is fine with me.) I think they will make it to the playoffs this year as well.
