Found out today that the AIA will be voting on a proposal in September to forces Expanded Geographical Enrollment schools (ie. Charters and Privates) up 1 division in competition level. This would apply to all metro area charters and private schools. It would not impact privates or charters playing 8 man football, but all the privates and charters in Division V would be forced up to Division IV. The new rule allow for petitioning down if certain criteria are met, but after reading the draft I don't believe any current private in Division V would be granted a downward petition.
Privates are already threatening a lawsuit, but this is used in several other states and has held up in court. It will be interesting to see what happens. Maybe the AIA will final get something right.
