Saturday, March 27th - The Chandler Rotary Invitational Track Meet is the second oldest continuously run invitational meet in Arizona. It was started by the Wickenburg Rotary Club in 1941. Eight schools participated in the first year, including Chandler High School. In 1943, the meet was moved to Chandler High School due to travel problems and gas rationing during World War II.
Originally the meet was strictly a relay event. During the past 60 years the meet has grown to include nearly 2000 athletes. In 2008, more than 75 schools from Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico and Alberta, Canada participated in the two-day event.
Between 2000 and 3000 spectators attend the event in addition to strong media coverage.
The meet is widely recognized as one of the top competitions of the year. Performances from this meet are typically found in the national and state rankings for the season.
Admission charge for the public will be $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students with a school ID.
