Joseph City is definitely number 1 and should be favored to win it all, after that I think the other 4 could be in almost any order. These 5teams have been the top five for the last several years. If you throwin St. David you have the top 6 programs in the state in 1A. Are thereany other good softball programs in the 1A?
I think St. Augustine is trying to build a good program but have just not been able to attract many kids yet. Same about Green Fields. The East has had some very good athletes but until Superior went down to 1A, pitching was always the probelm in that Region. Mayer could have competed a couple of years ago.
We are opening at the San Manuel tourney again this year. Pretty solid field overall. We then have an early conference game with Tombstone the following Tuesday. Pretty special game as that will be the first game ever played on campus in school history.
The Wickenburg tourney, huh? Pretty good competition in that one! Your girls will grow up a lot during that weekend. I was looking at your schedule on the AIA website and only saw 3 other North teams on your schedule, are you, Joe City, Fredonia and Ash Fork the only 1A North teams with programs (so far) this season?
Here in the north, right now it is just those four at the varsity level for sure. We have games scheduled with Rock Point, but they forfeited last year so Im not expecting a game. St. Mikes and Seligman are playing a JV schedule. Im sure we are no worse off than any other 1A conference.
