i just left the brophy - centennial game and was not impressed with either team. centennial is big and the qb looked like he had some speed but only when scrambling. brophy was small and or tall and skinny but got off the ball better than centennial.
i went to the chap - saguaro game and i think of the four teams saguaro is the best i've seen. they are big and the backs hit the holes quick and the backs looked strong as well. however, chap did hang with the big guys up front but saguaro had better backs. the qb's looked equal.
schools don't post a whole lot on the freshman teams. so it's hard to cruise around the various school sites and get results.
i have no doubt that hamilton is the best frosh team in the state. why, because the alliance king's feed into that school big time. yes, some go to chandler and elsewhere but for the most part the kings are the team that feeds into hamilton.
a youth team participated in the chavez passing league over the summer and played; centennial, desert vista, chavez, fairfax and st. mary's beating them all repeatedly over the four weekends. so not very impressed with those schools. but hey it was passing league and we know frosh teams don't really pass much.
Not Sandra Day O'Conner the future looks bleak got blown up 35-0 at Boulder Creek yesterday in addition to blow outs against Westview, Perry, Desert Ridge and one win over Valley Vista. My friends kid is looking at maybe going to Mountain Ridge next year to avoid the coaching disasters at all levels at O'Conner.
