Very uninspiring game to be honest. I have been at this game the last 3 years and the last two were phenominal, very hard hitting affairs and this one just seemed flat for some reason.
As for the game, it was a good defensive struggle for the 1st half and was actually tied 0-0. Brophy had a nice TD run by #34 to start the 2nd half. Kid is a good looking prospect- probably 6'2" and 185-195lbs with some speed. Cavellio I believe is his name.
St. Mary's just couldn't generate sustained drives on offense and wore out in the 2nd half. They suited up only 23 players and probably only played 15 of them while BCP probably had around 60+ kids. St Mary's played hard though and the last TD was scored with less than a minute left.
#20, RB and DB for BCP is a dang good player. Runs really, really hard and is physical despite being undersized. I also liked their two way lineman- #75, who is about 6'4" 220lbs and got under the pads of the massive 6'6" 340 lbs man-child for the Knights- #61, and used good technique to create some nice holes. Was surprised to see Brian Woodward, #4, at MLB and not QB for BCP, but thought he played well on defense
#6, the Qb & DB for St. Mary's, Travis _____, is a very good looking player. Has a decent arm and runs the veer well, just didn't have a lot of running room tonight. Heard he rushed for close to 250 yards against O'Connor last week in their win. Probably had around 85-95 yards rushing tonight.
#2 WR Green for the Knights looks like a solid two way player as well.
I heard a lot of hype about this incoming frosh class for BCP, and in just my humble opinion, think last year's class is better. Last year's team seemed to have more overall speed, and with Brugman at QB, their offense flowed and played so much better and was far more disciplined. I would say the frosh team tonight had well over 100 yards in penalties, many of which were personal fouls, face masks or block in the back type of flags.
Good to see John Cruz coaching the frosh team for the Knights again.
