There are at least two passing tournaments that I will go and watch this summer. The first is at Valley Vista on June 4, which has a big man competition as well. Around 16 teams I believe. Last year it was named the West Valley Tournament. It's great as a fan as you can literally watch four games at once. I'm not sure if they are still the named host or not, but I assume so. The other is at the Surprise Complex on June 25. There is a passing tournament with about 32 schools from all over the valley. It's hosted by the AzFCA and Hamilton Head Coach, Belles is helping organize the event. Word is that it will showcase schools from all over Arizona. Big and small. I enjoy watching these. It's one of the few times that you can see a 2A school compete and sometimes beat 5A schools. You realize that the skill positions at some of these smaller schools are very good. Unfortunately, many times those smaller school kids have to play both sides, so they tire quicker in the heat and they just don't have the depth, but it's great competition. There is also a big man competition that day and the Arizona vs. California All-Star Game. Should be a great day for fans all around!
what may be confusing is that this is posted in the underclassman section. In fact, there are just a handful of freshman passing league contests. I know there was one last year near the fields just east of Cardinal Stadium, and a handful of school vs school contests on Tuesday and/or Wednesday nights this summer, but not many true underclassmen passing tournaments.
