Cactus Shadows v. Greenway

Cactus Shadows shuts out Greenway in the second half to roll to a 27-10 win on the Cox 7 Thursday night game of the week.

Recap

Cactus Shadows took the upper hand in this game early and never looked back.

Sophomore QB Bryce Kinsler hit John Leonard for the first score of the night from three yards out on the Falcons' second possesion. They continued the scoring, going on a long drive that saw Kinsler connect with receivers Max Gersh, Leonard and Nic Erickson. Erickson got his first score of the night, running in from 5 yards out. 14-0.

The Demons finally got on the board with 2:50 left in the half when RB Harrison Johnson pounded it in from 3 yards out. Johnson and RB Austin Adams were crucial on the series. 14-7.

The teams exchanged a pair of field goals in the final 2:50 to make the score 17-10 at the half.

But this is as close as Greenway would cut the lead. Cactus Shadows recovered their onside kick to open the half and the Falcons never looked back.

Kinsler hit Leonard on a deep ball on the drive that set up Erickson's second score of the night. 24-10.

A 28 yard field goal by Nick Miller gave us the 27-10 final.

Bottomline

Greenway was competitive in spurts but had way too many penalties to get anything started. Cactus Shadows and coach Chad DeGrenier prove again that his passing game is second to none.

Game Ball

I am giving two out tonight. Cactus Shadows WR John Leonard had about a dozen catches for roughly 200 yards and a TD.

Teammate Nic Erickson had two INTs and scored two TDs on the night.
