Washington v. Sunnyslope

Washington remains undefeated with 31-20 win over host Sunnyslope

Breakdown

Turnovers put the Vikings in the hole early and often. Their first possession resulted in an INT and a Washington score and Sunnyslope was playing catchup from the get go and never caught up.

Greg Price turned the INT into points carrying the ball all four plays to cover 29 yards and put the first points on the board. 7-0 WHS.

A Slope fumble and WHS recovery led to another heavy dose of Price. The 290 pounder got in from a yard out to give the Rams a 14-0 lead.

Washington went up 21-0 when QB Devonte Smythe hooked up with Devonte Nelson from 35 yards out.

A WHS turnover, deep in their own territory, with 1:03 to play in the half set up Sunnyslope's first score of the night. QB Ben Maraz found Max Yohnka from 25 yards out. PAT was no good and WHS took a 21-6 lead into the half.

Penalties plagued this game and the third quarter was full of them. Washington managed the only score of the quarter. Smythe again found Nelson, this time from 35 yards out. 28-6.

Maraz had two more TD passes in the 4th quarter but it was little too late. WHS added a FG in the 4th to make the final 31-20.

Bottomline

Sunnyslope had no answer for 6-3 290 pound RB Greg Price. Pick your poison, stack the box to stop him and Coach Becktold went to the air, cover the spread and that is one less pkayer to tackle the massive Price.

This game had more penalties than I can ever remember in a high school game. It is hard to get anything going with the constant flags. No joke, there was at least 30 penaltiestonight.

Game Ball

Have to go with big Washington "running back" Greg Price. He had to have at least 150 yards on the ground and scored 2 TDs.
