O'Connor v. Boulder Creek

O'Connor scores 21 unanswered points in the 2nd half to improve to 6-0

Recap

This may have been the quickest 1st quarter of football I have ever seen. Both went on long drives that resulted in scores and ate up the entire first quarter with just a possession apiece.

O'Connor marched the field with a balanced mix of RB Brent Harbaugh running and Cougar Beaubein passing. Beaubein started the scoring off with a three yard QB sneak.

Boulder Creek drove the field and had several opportunities to punch the ball in but settled for a Jacob Van Leeuwen field goal. 7-3 Eagles after 1.

An O'Connor fumble resulted in Boulder Creek putting points on the board. After taking over at the 36 yard line, BC drove the field and took a 9-7 lead into halftime behind a Trevor Bonafasi to Mike Contreras TD. PAT wwas no good.

The first half started just like the second, with both teams driving the field, eating clock and scoring.

Boulder Creek extended the lead to 16-7 when Contreras scored his second TD of the night. But it was O'Connor that would rattle off three unanswered scores to win the game 28-16.

Beaubein threw TD passes to Garrett Roque and Trevor Ermisch but it was Cougar's 32 yard scoring run with 1:53 to play that clinched the win for O'Connor.

Bottomline

This was a game where every possession truely counted. O'Connor was three for three as far as scoring on every drive until they kneeled to end the game. Johnny Rodriguez's team has bought into what he preaches. They play tough, sound defense and scheme around their deficiencies on offense. Great game and Boulder Creek is a very good team that can sling the ball and has two very good RBs. They are a team that could make a run in the playoffs.

Game Ball

O'Connor QB Cougar Beaubein was in on all four scoresfor the Eagles, throwing two and running for two.
