Marcos v. Mt. Pointe

Mountain Pointe rolls to a big 27-7 win over Marcos de Niza

Recap

The Pride set the tone for this game early, marching down the field on the first drive of the game, chewing up 9 minutes of the clock and scoring to take a 7-0 lead, a lead that was never in question.

Junior QB Kyle Faunce his Garrett Holle on a 5 yard slant and after a three and out by Marcos, scored again on a 43 yard Kevin Kadisack field goal. 10-0 after the 1st quarter.

Another three and out was forced by the Mountain Pointe D and this time it took MP just one play to put points up. Faunce hit Holle in stride for a 52 yard TD pass. 17-0.

Marcos finally got on the board midway through the 2nd quarter on a 1 yard Anthony Shivers TD but it would be the Padres only score of the game.

Junior Jordan Leal plunged in from a yard out after sophomore RB Thomas Warren set up the score on a 20 yard run. Halftime score 24-7.

Mt. Pointe played grind it out football in the 2nd half while Marcos tried to air the ball out but was unsuccessful as MP continued to pressure Marcos QB Tommy Thornton.

The only score of the 2nd half was a 39 yard Kadisack field goal.

Final 27-7

Bottomline

Marcos was never quite able to get the ball rolling, while MP played disciplined, ball control offense and swarmed to the ball, led by ASU committ Izzy Marshall.
