Ivy League Schools making it a point to recruit the Grand Canyon State, plus new offers for Nic Henson and Paul Perkins

While student-athletes all over the country are hauling in offers during the Spring Evaluation Period, Ivy League programs are making their rounds indentifying potential prospects. In Ivy League "offer" doesn't work quite the same because while they are in the FCS, they do not offer like athletic scholarships like many FCS conferences.

Several Ivy League schools ahve made their rounds through Arizona and has learned that the following prospects are being heavily looked at by these academic insitutions.

Mountain Pointe head coach Norris Vaughan says that Yale has said that they will offer two of his prospects once they get a high enough SAT score.

Vaughan says that linebacker Jordan Leal (5-11 200) and 2014 prospect Jalen Brown have "soft offers" contingent on a qualifying SAT score.

Leal was named 2nd team all region as a junior after making 45 tackles and 5 sacks.

Freshman sensation Brown (6-2 170) already has been verbally offered by Arizona State. He was named 1st team all-region as a freshman on varsity. He made 23 tackles and 6 INTs and caught 25 passes for 282 yards and 1 TD.

Desert Ridge jack-of-all-trades athlete Jordan Becerra (5-10 160) has been offered by Ivy League programs Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Cornell according to DR head coach Jeremy Hathcock. In fact, Harvard has told Coach Hathcock that Becerra is their top prospect in the country.

Becerra helped the Jaguars to 5A1 state title game as a junior after catching 32 passes for 464 yards. He added 1,128 yards and 13 TDs rushing. He also has offers from Army and Air Force.

Hathcock adds that Cornell has said that once RB Joey Counts (5-9 200) and QB Parker Rasmussen reach a high enough SAT score, they too will have offers.

Counts was named 1st team all-region as a junior after rushing for 1,329 yards and 19 TDs.

Rasmussen (5-10 175) missed part of his junior year with an injury but still managed to throw for 1,225 yards and 12 TDs vs. 4 INTs.

Arcadia d-end Jack Olson (6-4 225) also missed most of his junior year with an injury but is also getting plenty of Ivy League interest from schools like Yale, Cornell and Princeton.

He made 19 tackles and 4 sacks before missing time with an injury.

Word out of Chandler Hamilton is that wide receiver Nic Henson (6-2 200) has been offered by Montana but not as a wideout but as an outside linebacker.

Henson made 22 catches for 230 yards and 2 TDs as a junior.

Junior highlights - has confirmed that Chandler High athlete Paul Perkins (5-10 175) has received a new offer. Wolves head coach Shaun Aguano has informed us that Air Force offered Perkins today.

New Mexico and Montana have also offered Perkins.

He made 31 tackles and 1 INT as a junior.
