Big 33: AZ vs. SoCal

First annual AZ v. SoCal Big 33 game results in 27-7 victory for team SoCal


What played out to be a close game in the first half, team SoCal scored three unanswered times in the second half to cruise to a 27-7 win in the first annual Arizona/California Big 33 game.

After a sloppy first quarter full of punts, team Arizona was first to crack the scoreboard. Team SoCal was driving and in scoring range but safety Dallas Nichols (Central) picked up a fumble for Team AZ and raced 85 yards for a score.

The TD gave Team AZ a 7-0 lead but it would be their only score of the night.

SoCal QB Vernon Adams (Alemany) found TE Robert Craighead (El Capitan) in the endzone late in the first half to put them within a point after a missed PAT.

Early in the second half Team SoCal took a 12-7 lead, a lead they would never give back. Nephi Garcia scored on a fake field goal, PAT no good, to give them the lead for good.

Wide receiver Bryan Keller (Mission Viejo) took on in from 75 yards out (2 point was good) and Garcia added another score to give us the final 27-7 Team SoCal.
