Game Recap: Hamilton v. Basha

Hamilton beats Basha 44-14 on Cox 7 Thursday game of the week

This game was actually within reach for Basha until midway through the 3rd quarter but Hamilton scored 20 unanswered points in the second half to cruise to a 44-14 win over the Bears on the Cox 7 Thursday game of the week.

The Huskies went to work quickly, scoring on the first possesion of the game. They used Kendyl Taylor and Marcus Jones in heavy doses and marched 92 yards down the field. Taylor kicked off the scoring on a 14 yard TD run. 7-0.

The teams exchanged punts and Basha QB Kyle Duran moved the Bears down trhe field to even the score. Nate Phillips and Devin Reed came up with huge catches and Duran scored from a yard out to even the game at 7.

A 17 point 2nd quarter from Hamilton gave them a 24-7 halftime lead. Bobby Milus picked Duran setting his team up with good field position. More Taylor and more Jones got Hamilton down the field and this time it was QB Blake Kemp that scored from a few yards out. 14-7.

Jones scored on Hamilton's next drive and the Huskies got the ball back with under a minute to go and added a field goal before the half ended.

Basha made the game interesting, forcing a fumble and marching down the field and scoring to cut the lead to 10. J.J. Husar scored for the Bears but this would be the only score for Basha in the second half.

Hamilton got scores from Kemp, Hakim Mathieu, and Just'n Thymes to give them a 44-14 victory and extend their winning streak.

Basha was in the game early but with four turnovers you won't beat Hamilton. Hamilton was Hamilton. They were efficient and balanced on offense and played tough on D. Most thought Hamilton may be down this year but those young kids have now grown up and they are only going to be tougher to beat as the season goes on.

Game Ball

Two players standout to me. Kendyl Taylor had to have at least 250 yards of offense and CB Bobby Milus was in on two of the four turnovers.
