In a bid to qualify for playoffs the 5-3 Millennium Tigers hosted 7-1 Valley Vista Friday night. Wanting to take care of business for homecoming Millennium jumped out to a 7-0 lead when QB Ruben Rincon hit senior receiver Kieren Duncan on a 13 yard crossing pattern.
Early in the second, Rincon and Duncan once again hooked up, this time for 47 yards. The Tigers could not convert the PAT making the score 13-0.
Throughout the first half Valley Vista struggled to get anything going on offense, punting multiple times to the homestanding Tigers. Late in the 2nd quarter Rincon found speedy junior Jerrell Green on a 47 yard fade pattern. In the red zone the Tigers faltered and to settled for a 24 yard field goal making the score at the half 16-0.
The second half followed the same script as the first with Rincon again finding Duncan, this time on a 37 yard pass for a score. The two point conversion try failed putting Millennium up 22-0 with 9:22 left in the 3rd. Three minutes later, Duncan again made got loose for a long completion that set up an 18 yard Lovanta Hatcher TD run. The PAT made the score 29-0. One more time in the third Millennium scored as Rincon took in a nice option run from six yards out. PAT was good, 36-0 Tigers.
In the fourth Millennium worked the backups and Valley Vista attempted to get on the board but for naught making the final 36-0.
Millennium's speed at receiver was too much for the Valley Vista secondary as the Tigers hit on big pass plays at will. The Tigers need to take the momentum from this homecoming win into next week's game against Willow Canyon in an attempt to get a seed in the upcoming playoffs.
Duncan and Rincon were a combination Valley Vista had no answer for the entire night.
