Westview Finishes Strong

27 second half points propel Westview to a 27-13 win over Mt. Ridge

Mountain Ridge clung to a 6-0 lead at halftime but it was Westview that would respond with 27 second half points to beat Mt. Ridge on the Cox 7 Thursday game of the week.

Two Kolby Gregory FGs were the only points scored in the first half but after forcing a MR punt to start the second half, Westview drove the field and took their first lead of the game.

Very uncommon Westview football, their offense didn't get a first down until the second half's first drive but they came in bunches and it would be Rene Corral who would score the first TD of the game. 7-6 Westview.

The Knight defense forced another punt and again, their offense would drive the field and score. This time QB Kordell Provchy raced in to extend the lead to 14-6.

Another forced punt and again it was a now efficient Westview offense that would take control of the game. Provchy found big Ardis Palmer and he rumbled 65 yards to the house. 21-6 Westview.

Mt. Ridge got a breath of life midway through the fourth quarter, recovering a fumble at Westview's 5 yard line and scoring to cut the lead to 21-13.

But it would get no closer. Westview's Seivion Morris scored on a 60 yard run that all but sealed the game.

Final 27-13.

Neither team looked very good offensively in the first half but Westview made some adjustments and came out ready to play. Their opening drive of the second half set the tone for the rest of the game.

Game Ball

A great all around performance for the Westview defense, allowing just 1 late TD on a short field and two field goals in the first half.
