After a scoreless first quarter, Desert Edge kicked the scoring off on a 19 yard Sergio Garcia run. PAT was no good. 6-0 Scorpions.
Verrado returned the ball to the 50 but turned the ball over on downs. Garcia rumbled to the 10 yard line and junior Alex Aguirre plunged in from a few yards out shortly after. 13-0 Desert Edge.
Another good KOR by Verrado amounted to nothing as Desert Edge forced a punt. Verrado pinned them at the 4 yard line. Desert Edge proceeded to go 96 yards and score just before the half. Sophomore QB Tehran Thomas hit Roshaun Johnson on 4th and 29 to give the Scorpions a 20-0 lead at the half.
Desert Edge extended the lead to 28-0 in the 3rd quarter after Verrado snapped the ball over the punter's head for a safety and another TD by Johnson (PAT no good).
Johnson made it 34-0 (another blocked PAT) on his third score on the night.
Verrado's Nathan Roehl returned a kickoff for the Vipers' only score of the night.
Thomas ran in Desert Edge's last score in the 4th to give us a final of 40-7.
Other then the PAT team, Desert Edge rolled. Verrado kept it close for a quarter but a 20 point 2nd quarter by Desert Edge got the ball rolling. Desert Edge will be good the next few years as they started multiple freshmen and sophomores.
The Desert Edge defense didn't allow a point against a previously unbeaten team.
