Game Recap: Horizon v. Boulder Creek

Horizon runs past previously unbeaten Boulder Creek 56-35

Breakdown

The game of the week in the Valley didn't live up to the hype as Horizon cruised to a 56-35 win over Boulder Creek.

The two high powered offenses exchanged punts to start the game and after a Horizon, one which gave the Jaguars the ball at the 10 yard line, Boulder Creek would take the early lead 7-0 on a Blake Dawson run.

But that would be Boulder Creek's only lead of the night as Horizon rattled off 35 unanswered points in the 1st half.

Dalton Sneed had TD passes to Nick Lylyk, Robbie Gerlinger, Carter McCarthy and Nick Gregory on consecutive possessions and the Huskies had a 28-7 lead. McCarthy scored on a run and BC finally got back on the board with a few seconds left in the first half on a Gunther Johnson to Nick Algieri pass.

35-15 at the half.

Sneed stayed hot in the second half, leading the Huskies to TDs on their first two drives of the 2nd half. He threw TD passes to junior Julian Carter and again to McCarthy. 49-14.

Boulder Creek's Tucker Hartman returned a kick off for a score but any life the Jaguars had was quickly erased when Sneed raced 40 yards for his 7th score of the game.

Boulder Creek got 2 late TD passes from Johnson to Algieri and Kile Pendergraft but it was too little too late.

Final: Horizon 56 Boulder Creek 35

Bottomline

Horizon's first three possessions were punt, fumble and a turnover on downs but scored TDs on their next 8 drives. This win sets up a showdown next week with Pinnacle for the section title.
