Game Recap: Liberty v. Paradise Valley

Liberty's 28 point 2nd quarter too much to overcome for Paradise Valley

Breakdown

With two high powered offenses, I was surprised that the score after one quarter was 0-0. The two teams exchanged punts to start the game and then Paradise Valley drove the field only to see LB Aaron Joseph intercept Daniel Bridge-Gadd in the end zone. He returned it to the 35 and with a few ticks off the clock in the 2nd quarter, Tyler Wyatt hooked up with Connor Masood from 12 yards out to give Liberty a 7-0 lead.

The Lions would score 28 unanswered points in the 2nd quarter.

Liberty forced a punt, which was blocked by DT Aaron Blackwell, then scooped and scored by DE Nick King. 14-0 Liberty.

Kory Wilson picked Bridge-Gadd on the next series and it took Wyatt just two plays to get Liberty on the board again, this time hitting Jake Schuiteboer for a score. 21-0.

PV then turned the ball over on downs, after a TFL and PBU by Aaron Blackwell. Wyatt hit Alex Jackson on a 47 yard bomb to move into scoring position and then Alex Hunter punched the ball in from a yard out. 28-0.

PV was able to get on the board with 1:10 to go in the half on a Bridge-Gadd to Aaron Smith TD pass. PAT was blocked. 28-6 at the half.

Liberty got the ball first in the second half and went on a 7 minutes and 31 second scoring drive that broke PV's back. Wyatt hooked up with Deyton Jackson from 30 yards out to cap the drive. 35-6.

Alex Hunter would score one more time in the 3rd for Liberty and PV got a late score on a James Dragon to Brendon Best TD pass.

Final: Liberty 42 Paradise Valley 13

Liberty will face Cienega in the semi-finals.

Bottomline

Liberty was the more physical team. Period. PV had some chances early but turnovers really cost them.

Game Ball

I know Liberty scored a bunch of points, and I don't think I have ever done this, but Liberty DT Aaron Blackwell dominated this game. He was unblockable. Blackwell was in the backfield on every play, he disrupted any and everything Paradise Valley tried to do offensively.
