Game Recap: Desert Edge v. Catalina Foothills

Scorpions cruise to a 41-7 win in the 2015 opener.

Desert Edge looked in mid-season form as they cruised to a 41-7 win over Catalina Foothills in their season opening win at Glendale Community College.

After forcing a three-and-out, Desert Edge got the ball and it took just two plays for the Scorpions to get on the board. Junior QB Tehran Thomas scored from 39 yards out to give DE the early 7-0 lead.

Next set of possession equaled the same result. Another CF three-and-out and another Thomas TD run. This one was from 31 yards out.

Catalina Foothills showed some fight, driving the field and getting on the board on a Rhett Rodriguez TD run to make the game 14-7 but this would be their only score of the night.

Thomas scored his third rushing TD of the night on the next possession and threw his first to Rashaad Brown on the following.

And after all of this we came to the end of the 1st quarter.

Thomas' fourth TD run came in the second after Roshaun Johnson set it up with a 41 yard run to the 10 yard line. This was the lone score of the second quarter and put the half time score at 34-7.

Thomas scored the games' final points in the 3rd quarter on guess what, another TD run.

Final: Desert Edge 41 Catalina Foothills 7

Desert Edge showed why they are the D3 preseason favorite, handling a Catalina Foothills teams that made the playoffs last year. Their offensive line is massive and Roshaun Johnson will be tough to stop once he has a head of steam. Tehran Thomas is a true dual threat QB and the Scorpion defense is fast. If they lack one thing, it is a true speed guy on offense.

Catalina Foothills was simply over matched. They didn't have the depth or size in the trenches. But this isn't a team that lacks talent, Rhett Rodriguez is a good ball player as is RB #5 (not listed on roster) and Max Michalczik.

Game Ball

Desert Edge QB Tehran Thomas accounted for all six Scorpion scores, rushing for 5 TDs while throwing one.
