Almost 100 points were scored and the game almost didn't finish due to the lights going out on the Cox 7 Game of the Week.
Two Top 10 ranked squads from the D1 ranks faced off and while much of the first half was very competitive, Chandler would score 20 unanswered points in the second quarter to build a 41-17 lead at the half.
The teams exchanged scores on their opening drives, Chandler starting it off with a T.J. Green run that was set up by two Mason Moran to N'Keal Harry passes and a long Moran run.
Desert Ridge answered with Tavian Patrick setting them up with a nice kick off return past the 50. Stephan Gomez punched it in to tie the score at 7.
In the late 1st and early 2nd quarter, Moran would play a huge role in two consecutive Wolves scores, running the first in and then hitting Harry on a 56 yard pass. 21-7.
Desert Ridge answered quickly. RB Jathan Tenoriowent 73 yards to the house on the Jaguars' first play of the next drive. 21-14.
Chandler then blew the doors open. Harry broke multiple tackles on a short pass from Moran and rumbled into Desert Ridge territory. Green then got his second score of the night on a 12 yard run.
Desert Ridge's center snapped the ball over the QB's head and Chandler's Hamilcar Rashed recovered. It took Chandler just a few plays to capitalize, scoring on a Mich Reed-Campos 18 yard run. 34-14.
Desert Ridge would miss a field goal and junior WR kolby Taylor would join the scoring, running in to extend the lead to 41-14 with 1:30 left in the half.
Desert Ridge kicker Antonio Decozio kicked a 31 yard field goal as time expired in the half. 41-17.
The teams exchanged scores in the 3rd quarter to make it 47-24 entering the 4th...and things got interesting.
Chandler usd the Moran to Harry connection to get in scoring range and Green scored his 4th TD of the game. Desert Ridge took to the air. C.J. Fowler hit Tavian Patrick for a short gain that Patrick turned into a score as he couldn't be brought down and raced 55 yards to the end zone. 53-31.
The teams then exchanged four turnovers, the last being a Desert Ridge DT D.J. Davidson forced fumble and recovery, scoop and score. 53-39 after the two-point conversion.
Desert Ridge recovered the onside kick and had some hope with a few minutes left in the game.
But they would turn the ball over on downs and then the lights in the stadium went out. After a delay, Chandler's Mason Moran went 56 yards to pay dirt and put the icing on the cake. 60-39 final.
These are two quality football teams, Chandler just had more athletes. Chandler looked like they got their offense back and clicking after struggling a bit against Chaparral last week. They looked good except for several missed PATs.
Desert Ridge can run the rock and typically plays good defense, this is a team that could go far in the playoffs.
Chandler RB T.J. Green scored 4 times but QB Mason Moran got in his groove, racking up almost 400 yards of offense and accounting for 3 scores.
