The Ahwatukee Bowl headlines this week's featured games

Game of the Week

Mountain Pointe at Desert Vista (Thurs)

Bitter rivals within a few miles of each. Both teams are having great years, Mt. Pointe is undefeated while Desert Vista is one of the surprise teams of the year with a 5-1 record. This game might be over by 8:30, the way these two teams like to run the rock. MP's Marcarius Blount has 806 yards and 12 TDs. QB Jack Smith, who has committed to UNLV, has pitched in 338 yards on the ground. Junior Isaiah Pola-Mao stars both way for the Pride and DE Dillon Goulet can get to the QB.

The Thunder offense are led by two underclassmen RBs, junior Lelon Dillard is a big back that has rushed for 700+ yards and 7 TDs. Sophomore Keishaud White is averaging almost 9 yards per carry. Special teams could play a huge role and DV has one of the best kickers in the nation in Connor Culp. His kickoffs will go for touchbacks and he has the leg to hit from 50+.

Games I will be at

Mountain Pointe at Desert Vista

O'Connor at Apollo

Both of these teams typically fly under the radar and this could end up being one of the better games Friday night.

O'Connor is coming off a huge win over previously unbeaten Corona and are now on a three game win streak. QB Bailin Markridge threw for over 400 yards last week. He is also the team's leading rusher. Mike Tytler is Markridge's favorite target.

Looking to get after Markridge is Apollo DE Carson Taylor, he leads the team with 5 sacks. Apollo's secondary has come up huge, racking up 10 interceptions this season.
