Paradise Valley remains undefeated with 52-41 win over Shadow Mountain


A heavy underdog, Shadow Mountain jumped out to a 14-0 lead over #1 ranked Paradise Valley and fought until the bitter end before falling 52-41.

Shadow Mountain got the ball first and marched down the field, scoring on a trick play. WR Jake Welshimer lined up at Wildcat QB and threw the ball out to normal QB Darion Spottsville for the first score of the night.

PV thrn fumbled the ball away, with Shadow Mountain recovering at the 35 yard line. Spottsville extended the Shadow Mountain lead to 14-0 on a QB sneak.

Paradise Valley clawed their back into the game and ended up taking a 17-14 lead at the half. The Trojans scored on a Jared Beamon TD run, a Daniel Bridge-Gadd to Jordan Delaney TD pass and a Devin Moon field goal.

PV scored twice to open the second half. Bridge-Gadd hit Jim Dragon and A.J. Smith for scores to extend their lead to 32-14 in the 3rd.

Shadow Mountain wouldn't go away, scoring on a Spottsville to Destin Nasr pass and then intercepting Bridge-Gadd twice, on the latter Shadow Mountain cut the lead back to one score when Spottlsville hooked up with Jordan Pace for a score. 32-27 as we entered the 4th quarter.

In the 4th quarter, a touchdown was scored on every possession except one by Shadow Mountain. Beamon raced in again from 46 yards out and Bridge-Gadd added the two-point conversion. Spottsville hit Nesr again for the Matadors. 40-34, with 9 minutes left in the 4th.

PV scored on consecutive possessions and the defense got a stop to put the game away. Bridge-Gadd hooked up with Dragon again and Daniel added a rushing score to extend PV's lead to 52-34.

Spottsville and Nesr hooked up for another score but it was took little too late.

Shadow Mountain played their butts off and they have some talent but PV proved to be too much. after trailing 14-0 to start the game, the Trojans rattled off 32 straight points. Defense was almost non existent in this game.
