In a game like this, ground and pound with limited offensive touches, each possession is crucial. The Centennial offense only had the ball three times in the first half but scored on all three possessions to build a 21-3 halftime lead over Desert Ridge.
The Centennial defense forced a Desert Ridge three-and-out to start the game and the Coyote offense covered 49 yards for the first score of the game. On the first play of the game, Centennial went play action and came up with a big play. Isaac Steele hit Connor Sovacki for a 35 yard gain. RB Quentin Gomez punched it in from 4 yards out and Centennial took the early 7-0 lead.
Desert Ridge responded with an Antonio DeCozio field goal 7-3.
Centennial again marched the field but it looked like the Jaguar defense came up with a stop by an interception was called back on off-setting penalties and Gomez would score again a few plays later. 14-3 in the 2nd quarter.
After forcing a punt, the Centennial offense again took the field. It looked like Desert Ridge would get the ball back in good field posiiton with 5 minutes to play but Centennial's Bozton Sanders rumbled 38 yards on a fake punt to keep the drive alive for the Coyotes. They would turn it into points on an Isaac Steele TD run 21-3.
Desert Ridge drove the field at the end of the half and attempted a field goal but it was wide left. 21-3 at the half.
Centennial opened with the ball to start the second half and went on a 7+ minute drive, the field goal was no good but ate a ton of time off the clock.
The teams exchanged punts and Desert Ridge cut the lead to 21-6 on another DeCozio field goal.
Desert Ridge wouldn't go away, forcing a Centennial punt in the 4th quarter but turned the ball over on downs on the possession.
John Rincon put the game away for Centennial on a TD run with 2 minutes left in the game.

It is pretty simple, Centennial was more physical. Their offensive line started to wear down Desert Ridge, especially after D.J. Davidson went down and their defense played lights out, not giving up a touchdown all night.
The Centennial defense gets the nod here, the kept D Ridge out of the endzone, limited big plays and shut down a very good Jaguar run game. Coyote senior RB Quentin Gomez had 2 rushing scores.
