Pusch Ridge gets two four quarter touchdowns to beat Northwest Christian

Two late turnovers lead to two Pusch Ridge scores to propel the Lions past Northwest Christian

Breakdown

Despite forcing three first half turnovers, Pusch Ridge trailed Northwest Christian 7-0 at the half.

The only points of the first half came by RB Tanner Vanhofwegen in the first quarter. Pusch Ridge missed a field goal late in the second quarter.

Neither team managed any points in the third quarter, Northwest had a TD called back and then missed a field goal while Pusch Ridge turned the ball over and punted on their two possessions of the quarter.

Things got exciting in the fourth...

Northwest was driving and had the ball in scoring range but Pusch Ridge's Aaron Tvrdy picked off Drew Inness at the 10 yard line. The Lions got a huge 33 yard run by Dakota Haynes and Pusch Ridge capped the 90 yard drive with a game tying TD pass with 5 minutes to play. Cody Cropp hit Ben Walker for the score.

Inness was intercepted by Paul Bertelsen but the Crusader defense forced a three-and-out, giving NWC the ball with 1:30 left to play.

But a fumble was recovered by Pusch Ridge on the first play of the ensuing possession giving the Lions the ball at the Northwest 7 yard line.

Three plays later Pusch Ridge took their first lead of the game on a Tamerat McLeod TD run from 2 yards out. 14-7.

Northwest got the ball back with 1:06 left and was able to move the ball across the 50 but turned the ball over on downs.
