Like many other travelers, I was late to the game because of an accident on I17. Heard there was a death. I want to send my prayers to that family.
I arrived in the 2nd quarter, and Brophy was up 14-3 after two Noah Pittenger TDs for the Broncos and a 40 yard field goal by Jeff McGuire for Pinnacle.
After Pinnacle took the early 3-0 lead, Brophy was able to march the field and score on a Pittenger run. Pinnacle fumbled the kickoff, giving Brophy the ball in scoring position and capitalized on the short field with the second Pittenger TD.
Brophy never looked back, in total scoring 31 unanswered points to cruise to a 31-10 victory in Game 1 of the Sollenberger Classic.
The two teams totaled four turnovers in the second quarter alone and Pinnacle kept the trend going in the second half, throwing an INT on the first play of the half. Brophy added three more points on a Trevor Eldean field goal to extend the lead to 17-3.
The Broncos added second half scores on a 93 yard Caleb Moore to Robert Brooks TD pass and an Erik Dimaria TD run.
Pinnacle scored late on a Hunter Griggs run.
Final: Brophy 31 Pinnacle 10
Give it to Brophy. They are very well coached. Their defense forced 5 turnovers and 4 punts in the time I was there. Obviously, Pinnacle needs to keep better care of the football and it didn't help that their star QB Spencer Rattler was out.
Brophy RB Noah Pittenger is a heck of a football player. He scored 2 TDs and was dangerous in the return game.
