Saguaro cruises to 35-0 victory

After facing two tough out-of-state opponents, there was no let up for Saguaro as the Sabercats beat visiting Catalina Foothills 35-0.

Early, it looked like this was going to be a game but the seize and depth of Saguaro turned out to be more than Catalina Foothills could handle.

Saguaro got the ball first and fumbled it away. In scoring range, Catalina Foothills walked away with no points, as they missed a field goal.

Saguaro got on track and marched the field, scoring on a Max Massingale to Giovanni Miranda screen pass. 7-0 Saguaro.

Catalina Foothills marched the field but again came away empty handed as their field goal was blocked.

After the 1st quarter, it was 7-0 Saguaro but a 28 point second quarter blew the doors off this game.

Massingale found Miranda for another score, Stone Matthews punched in a short TD, Massingale hooked up with Zach Wilson for a score and then he ran in another to give Saguaro a 35-0 lead.

With the Catalina Foothills players obviously gassed from going both ways, head coach Jeff Scurran slowed the game down. The two teams totaled four possessions between them both in the second half.

Final: Saguaro 35 Catalina Foothills 0

Saguaro dismantled the #2 ranked team in 4A and their offense was not outstanding tonight. Can anyone in 4A hang with these guys? Marcos beat Cactus tonight and will jump up to #2, do the Padres have a chance?

Game Balls

Max Massingale accounted for 4 Saguaro scores but the defense was lights out. They are so long, fast and physical.
